TRDA Announces Participants in NASA Supported Aerospace Technology Commercialization Assistance ProgramMelbourne, Fla. (May 27, 2010) – Florida’s Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) announces that seven small technology-based companies have been selected to participate in its Aerospace Technology Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) for 2010. The program is designed to aid small businesses move their NASA sponsored technologies to the marketplace.
Through the CAP, participating companies will receive TRDA’s assistance in analyzing consumer, industry and government markets, before crafting overall commercialization strategies for infusion to federal agencies and distribution to specific industry sectors. With a collaborative approach, CAP supports small R&D and manufacturing companies in preparing marketing plans, connecting with end-use partners, large industrial firms or government systems integrators, and identifying and accessing capital sources.
“TRDA Aerospace Technology Commercialization Assistance Program is a perfect way to help small businesses with promising technologies mature and evolve into venture capital ready companies” said Chester J. Straub, Jr., executive director of the TRDA. “Such companies help advance the mission of the federal space program and contribute to Florida’s and the nation’s economic growth and improve our competitiveness in the global marketplace.”

The CAP is a commercialization component of the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP), which provides free assistance to small businesses with technical challenges through the expertise of the program’s Alliance Partners — more than 25 aerospace companies and universities involved in the U.S. Space Program.
Support for SATOP and CAP is provided in part by the National Aeronautic and Space Administration.
